Memorial Day Ceremonies
Memorial Day Ceremonies
Memorial Day ceremonies and gatherings happening in Frisco and neighboring cities this Monday. A day to pause, reflect, and honor those who gave everything for our freedom.
Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a day set aside to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country, and to honor their sacrifice with the reverence it deserves. This Monday, May 25th, Frisco and several neighboring cities are holding meaningful ceremonies and gatherings that are open to the entire community. However you choose to observe the day, we hope you find a moment to be still, to be grateful, and to remember.
"Freedom is never free. Today and every day, we are grateful for those who gave everything so that we could have it."
In Frisco
The City of Frisco, the Frisco Garden Club, and Frisco VFW Post 8273 come together each year for the annual Memorial Day Observance at Frisco Commons Park, and this year marks another chapter in a tradition that has been honored since 1994. The ceremony takes place at the Frisco Veterans Memorial beginning at 9:00 AM and features performances by the Frisco Community Band and the Frisco Chorale. It is a beautiful, meaningful gathering open to the entire public, and a wonderful way to begin Memorial Day as a community.
In McKinney
McKinney gathers at Corporal RD Foster Veterans Memorial Park at 10:00 AM for a formal Memorial Day ceremony honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. It is a dignified and moving observance held in a park named for a fallen hero, and the community is warmly invited to attend and pay their respects.
In The Colony
Grandscape in The Colony is hosting an Honor and Remembrance Ceremony in partnership with American Legion Post 21, running from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Corona Stage and Lawn. It is a heartfelt community observance dedicated to the men and women in uniform and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The event is free and open to all. Parking is available at the complimentary Crest Auto Parking Garage on site, and Grandscape's many dining options are open before and after the ceremony for those who would like to make a full outing of the day.
Whichever ceremony you attend or however you choose to spend this Monday, we hope it is a day marked by gratitude, reflection, and time with the people you love. Memorial Day exists because of extraordinary sacrifice. May we never take that lightly.
