Gluten Friendly Frisco Guide
Gluten Friendly Finds in Frisco
A personal guide to restaurants in Frisco that go above and beyond to accommodate gluten friendly diners, from one celiac to another.
If you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity, you already know how complicated something as simple as going out to eat can feel. The research, the questions, the anxiety of not knowing whether a meal is truly safe. It can be exhausting, and it can make what should be a joyful, easy experience feel like a chore. I know that feeling well, because I live with it too.
I have celiac disease, and I wanted to put together a resource I truly wish I had when I was first learning to navigate dining out in Frisco. This guide is a collection of restaurants in and around the area that have personally accommodated my restrictions comfortably and made me feel welcomed rather than burdened as a diner.
My hope in sharing this is simple: that you feel a little less bound to home-cooked meals when you just want a quick bite with family or friends. You deserve to enjoy a meal out, and there are places here that genuinely make that possible. And if you read all the way to the end, I have saved my absolute favorite hidden gem for last. Trust me, you will not want to miss it.
"You deserve a meal out with the people you love. This guide is my small way of helping make that a little easier."
Burgers
Great gluten friendly burgers do exist, and Frisco has a few spots that do them really well.
Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is a gem of a spot in Frisco that takes their gluten friendly offerings seriously. They offer gluten friendly buns and use dedicated fryers for their gluten friendly items, including their french fries, which are fried in beef tallow for a depth of flavor that is genuinely outstanding. The burgers are fully customizable, so you can build exactly what works for you. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and every order comes with a cheesy dad joke to lighten the mood.
Hat Creek is just across the border in Little Elm, but it is absolutely worth the short drive. They use dedicated fryers and cook in beef tallow, and their gluten friendly menu is impressively thorough. Every single shareable and side on their menu is gluten friendly, which makes ordering incredibly stress-free. Highlights include gluten friendly fried pickles, gluten friendly chicken nuggets, gluten friendly burger buns, classic french fries, and sweet potato fries. For a burger spot, having this level of gluten friendly coverage across the entire menu is exceptional.
In-N-Out is a reliable and accessible gluten friendly option when you need something quick. Their french fries are prepared in a dedicated gluten friendly fryer, and their burgers can be made gluten friendly by ordering them protein style, wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, or as the Flying Dutchman, which is simply the patties and cheese with no bun at all. Their animal fries are also gluten friendly. It is a straightforward, no-fuss option that covers the basics well.
Pizza
Finding a trustworthy gluten friendly pizza is one of the great challenges of celiac life. These two spots do their best to make it work.
Pizzeria Testa has a lovely ambiance and a wonderful dining experience. They offer gluten friendly pizza, and while it is baked in the same wood-fired oven as their traditional wheat pizzas, the kitchen does take meaningful precautions: a separate pizza cutter is used exclusively for gluten friendly orders, and gluten friendly pizzas are placed on their own designated mat to limit cross-contamination as much as possible. It is a thoughtful approach, and one worth discussing with your server before ordering based on your personal sensitivity level.
Pie Tap has some truly delicious gluten friendly pizza options, and the restaurant is transparent about their process. As a scratch kitchen, they are candid that it is nearly impossible to guarantee zero cross-contamination, but they take their precautions seriously and do a commendable job. The mushroom and prosciutto pies are personal favorites and absolutely worth ordering if your sensitivity allows. As always, have a conversation with your server before placing your order.
Mici Italian brings authentic Italian pizza and pasta to Frisco using high-quality, hormone, nitrate, and preservative-free ingredients. Their gluten friendly pizza starts with a gluten friendly crust, and you build it yourself with marinara, cheese, and any of their meats, all of which are gluten friendly with the exception of the meatballs. It is a fun and flexible experience. As a bonus, kids under 12 eat free all day every day with the purchase of an adult meal and drink, making this a wonderful family option.
Italian
Italian food and celiac disease do not have to be at odds. These spots prove that beautifully.
Pietro's is a delightful surprise. Despite carrying the name of a bakery, they also serve pasta, and their pasta dishes can be prepared with gluten friendly penne. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka is an absolute standout and a dish worth going back for. They also offer a gluten friendly and flourless Torta Caprese almond cake, which is a beautifully rich dessert and a lovely way to end a meal. Pietro's is the kind of place that makes you feel like you are not missing out on anything.
TruFire Kitchen and Bar is a globally inspired restaurant serving Mediterranean, American, and Italian cuisine, and it has one of the most extensive gluten friendly menus I have come across locally. Their gluten friendly options span the entire menu, from appetizers and salads to sandwiches, pasta, burgers, and even dessert. The Lil' Goat appetizer is a personal highlight and can be requested gluten friendly, at which point it arrives with gluten friendly pita. Having this much range in one restaurant is genuinely refreshing for anyone navigating dietary restrictions.
Chicken & BBQ
Southern comfort and gluten friendly dining can absolutely coexist, and these beloved Frisco spots are proof.
Babe's has been a long-time gem in Frisco, and for good reason. Their juicy smoked chicken and creamy mashed potatoes are both gluten friendly, making for a genuinely satisfying and comforting meal without the worry. It is the kind of place that feels like home, and knowing there are reliable gluten friendly options here makes it even better.
Hutchins BBQ is wonderfully accommodating for gluten friendly diners. Most of their meats are naturally gluten friendly, and they offer gluten friendly sauces as well. What makes Hutchins especially noteworthy is their staff's willingness to take extra precautions upon request. Let your server know about your allergy and the accommodations you need, and they will change gloves, use a clean knife, and prepare your plate on a fresh cutting board. That level of attentiveness goes a long way for someone with celiac disease.
Rudy's Bar-B-Q takes similar precautions to Hutchins when it comes to gluten friendly dining, and they are equally accommodating. Most of their meats are naturally gluten friendly, and gluten friendly sauces are available as well. Just as with Hutchins, notify your server of your allergy and the accommodations you need, and the staff will change gloves, use a clean knife, and prep your plate on a fresh cutting board upon request.
Tacos, Mexican & International
From Thai to tacos, Frisco's international dining scene has more gluten friendly options than you might expect.
Torchy's Tacos has a handful of gluten friendly options worth knowing about. Their Democrat taco is both gluten friendly and soy free, making it one of the safer choices for those navigating multiple sensitivities. They do have additional gluten friendly options on the menu, though some of those do contain soy, so it is worth reviewing the menu carefully and confirming with your server before ordering.
Blue Goose Cantina is a wonderful option for gluten friendly Mexican dining. Nearly the entire menu is gluten friendly, with the exception of flour tortillas, chili con carne, and sopapillas. They offer corn tortillas throughout, and their tortilla chips are fried in a dedicated fryer, which is a meaningful detail for those with celiac. While they do not have a formal printed gluten friendly menu, the staff are knowledgeable about ingredients and happy to guide you through your options.
La Hacienda Ranch offers a dedicated gluten friendly menu, which is always a reassuring thing to see. Their gluten friendly options include corn tortillas, steak fajitas, and chips fried in a dedicated fryer. Many of their sauces are gluten friendly as well. While they are not a certified gluten friendly kitchen and cross-contamination is possible, the staff are knowledgeable and attentive. Be sure to alert your waiter of your allergy and any accommodations you need before ordering.
Best Thai Frisco is a wonderful discovery for anyone who loves Thai food and assumed it was largely off the table with a gluten restriction. Their gluten friendly options are plentiful and genuinely delicious, covering salad rolls, soups, curry dishes, and a lovely selection of gluten friendly seafood options. The gluten friendly Pad Thai is the personal standout here, the flavors are vibrant, layered, and deeply satisfying. It is one of those dishes that makes you grateful you found the place.
Selda Mediterranean is a thoughtful dining experience for gluten friendly guests. They accommodate with gluten friendly toast and have taken the extra step of clearly marking gluten friendly options directly on their menu, which makes the ordering process much more relaxed and straightforward. That kind of transparency and intentionality in menu design is something worth appreciating.
Breakfast & Bagels
Mornings just got a little easier with these gluten friendly breakfast options nearby.
Snooze is a wonderful brunch spot for gluten friendly diners, and it is one worth knowing about. They offer a gluten friendly menu and their gluten friendly pancakes with gluten friendly toppings are genuinely delicious. It is a warm, lively space that makes for a really lovely outing with family or friends, and having a dedicated gluten friendly menu takes so much of the guesswork out of ordering.
Bagelology offers a gluten friendly bagel option that opens the door to their build-your-own bagel sandwich experience. Whether you are in the mood for a breakfast bagel loaded with morning favorites or a satisfying lunch sandwich, the gluten friendly bagel makes it possible. Their menu is creative and the options are genuinely mouth-watering. It is a lovely spot to start the day.
Snacks & Treats
Because snacking and celebrating with a sweet treat should never feel out of reach.
POParella's has been a charming part of the Frisco community since they first opened their doors on Coleman Boulevard in 2008. Their gluten friendly popcorn selection is wonderfully creative, offering flavors like Dr Pepper, caramel, cheesy cheese, and a rotating lineup of other inventive options. It is a genuinely fun spot to browse and snack, and the fact that so many of their flavors are gluten friendly makes it a reliable treat stop.
I saved the best hidden gem for last, and Sweet Gilly's truly deserves that title. Everything at Sweet Gilly's is gluten friendly, every single item. They are also always free from dairy and eggs, making this one of the most inclusive and thoughtful bakeries you will find anywhere.
What makes Sweet Gilly's especially exciting is that their menu changes weekly, rotating with seasonal flavors and limited offerings. If something catches your eye, do not wait, because it genuinely may not be there the next time you visit. They also take custom cake orders, which is a wonderful option for birthdays, celebrations, or any occasion where you deserve a beautiful cake that does not compromise on safety or flavor. And when the seasons change, be sure to check their holiday menu because those seasonal offerings are not to be missed.
I hope this guide brings you a little more ease and a little more joy the next time you want to eat out. You deserve a full table, good food, and the freedom to enjoy it. As always, please reach out to each restaurant directly before dining to confirm their current practices, and honor your own body and sensitivity level above all else. Happy dining, Frisco.
